Waterfall Loop at Big Basin is one of our favorite hike in the San Francisco Bay area. We have hiked this trail a several times, but still couldn’t decline the chaperone opportunity to drive and accompany Boy Scout Troop 84 of San Ramon when they picked this loop for one of their monthly 10 miler hike.
It’s almost a 10 mile loop if you follow skyline to the sea trail from the parking area and return via sunset trail. Trail is mostly shady and full of greenery – thanks to the redwood groves, and it leads to absolutely picturesque waterfalls midway.
Rangers at the headquarter are very resourceful and small store is always well stocked with treats. Wish we lived a little closer to this trail, if we did, I would be here every weekend!
