After a day trip to the Palace of Sintra, we had another day Lisbon before we would catch an evening train to Porto. One day is definitely not enough to do justice to this beautiful city, but we made the best use of our time.

We started our day off by taking a train to Belem.

One of the highlights of our trip was visiting the Monument to the Discoveries. This monument is located at theTagus River and honors the explorers who discovered new lands during the Age of Exploration.

While in Belem, we visited the Sao Vicente Monastery, which is a beautiful church located on a hill with panoramic views of the city.

We then took a train back to Praca do Comercio, which is a beautiful square located in the heart of Lisbon. The square is surrounded by historic buildings and has a statue of King José I right in the center. It was great spot to take a stroll and take in the sights and sounds of the city.

Next, we headed to Santa Maria Maior, which is a beautiful church located in the Alfama neighborhood. The church is known for its intricate tilework and stunning architecture. We also had the opportunity to climb to the top by the elevators for some incredible views of the square and the city.

After visiting Santa Maria Maior, we made our way to the Municipal Square. This square is located in the heart of the city and is surrounded by historic buildings and monuments. It’s a great spot to relax and people watch.

Overall, it was a fantastic day in Lisbon and I know I will return to explore more of this beautiful city!
