Rocky Mountain National Park

Four Lakes Loop, Rocky Mountain National Park:

While hiking on tranquil Four Lakes Loop Trail in the Rocky Mountain National Park, I almost forgot that I was supposed to be attending American Dental Association’s annual meeting just 65 miles away in Denver. I, along with some friends had planned to extend our stay so that we could sneak out to RMNP for a couple of days while we were in Denver for dental meetings.

Highlight of our brief trip to the Rocky Mountain National park was the day hike to the four lakes loop through Bear Lakes Trailhead. This six miles loop takes you to four breathtaking sub-alpine lakes; Bear Lake, Nymph Lake, Dream Lake and the best of all – Emerald Lake. This trail reminded me of my all time favorite day hike in the Sierras the little lakes valley in John Muir Wilderness in California.

We also made a brief visit to see another natural wonder – towering sandstone rock formations at the Garden of Gods near Colorado Springs.

All in all, if you are in Denver for a fun or for a business trip, both of these places are very much accessible, it is worth extending your stay to visit these natural wonders of Colorado.
