One of the most interesting fact I learned about Britain during my trip to UK is that, it is filled with remains of past lives, civilizations and stone circles. There are estimated to be around 1300 stone circles in Britain many of which still remain a source of mystery. Ongoing investigation focuses to get an idea of an understanding of the lives of the people who inhabited these islands more than 2000 years ago.
We were lucky to visit one of the most ancient and most beautifully located stone circles dating 3000 BC called Castlerigg Stone Circle. It was a short one hour hike up the hills above the town of Keswick in an open bowl area to get to the circles. Sprinkles of rain and a flock of grazing sheep added ten folds to the beauty of Castlerigg and it looked absolutely breathtaking at dusk.
