Burroughs Loop is the trail that combines stunning views and a bit of a workout. We hiked to the second Burroughs and clocked in 6-miles round trip with hefty 2000 ft elevation gain!

We kicked off our adventure early in the morning, leaving Ashford around 4:30 AM. Our goal was to reach the Sunrise visitor center before 7am as we didn’t have timed entry permit, and I’m happy to report we succeeded! The early morning light cast a beautiful glow over the landscape, setting the perfect tone for our hike.

The trail was fun and had an incredible variety of views as we made our way up the mountain. There were plenty of spots to stop and catch our breath while soaking in the scenery. We packed plenty of trail snacks and a picnic lunch, perfectly positioned along the way to enjoy the tranquility of nature.

After our hike, we packed up in the early afternoon before 1pm and headed towards the Port Angeles area to delve deeper into our next adventure at Olympic National Park.

We made it there around 5pm, perfect time for checking in at our hotel Red Lion. After showing and relaxing, we walked the waterfront to the Barhop Pizza and Brewery for casual dinner. It was a day well spent on the Burroughs Mountain Loop, and I can’t wait to share more about our exploration of Olympic NP!
